You’ve probably seen news headlines about the crippling effects of exam stress and anxiety on students and school children.
A team of my graduates joined me – Betty George – in collaborating on a research programme at the University of Kent. Led by Dr Peter Klappa, Master of Rutherford College, we tested the effects of Clinical Hypnotherapy on exam stress and anxiety in students. The results were outstanding: statistical analysis showed that the effect of Clinical Hypnotherapy is highly significant.
“Hypnotherapy worked amazingly for me, it evoked the sense of security and relaxation, Betty was attentive and never made me feel rushed like other therapies I have received. Hypnotherapy helped me to open up and discuss issues I have never dealt with, and since it is a huge weight off of my back because somebody else knows. I would recommend the treatment to everyone because it has been brilliant; I also know if in the future I need help then I can receive it again! Whether people struggle from small exam stress to huge anxiety- I believe hypnotherapy can begin to help people with that. I can’t thank the university enough for putting me in touch with Betty; it has been an overall positive experience. Although exam stress was not something we covered in detail, I have been able to apply breathing techniques to help with the stress that comes with doing a test- in fact I got close to 70% on my last test because I believe in myself more; this is definitely down to the Hypnotherapy.” Thank you for all your help Betty! University of Kent student.
This kind of endeavour raises the profile of Clinical Hypnotherapy and creates opportunities for ASCH graduates.
‘Here we demonstrated that Clinical Hypnotherapy can be a very useful tool to increase the mental wellbeing of students. We are working to make this kind of intervention available nationally to schools, colleges and universities.’ Peter Klappa PhD. Master of Rutherford College
This programme is ongoing, and we have at the same time an initiative to help students on an individual basis. This is carried out on the university of Kent campus and is now in its second year.
There are endless opportunities to work in this field and in specialist sectors within education. As an ASCH graduate you will be eligible to apply for our specialist training course in Clinical Hypnotherapy & NLP for groups and individual students and young people in schools.
