What are the entry criteria?

We have kept the entry criteria for training with ASCH to become a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist very simple.

The entry criteria for training with ASCH for a Clinical Hypnotherapy Diploma are as follows:

· You must be able to participate in every respect of the course in English both spoken and written to the required level of ASCH
· to be over 21 years of age
· two references (one professional)
· a covering letter on why you have decided to become a Clinical Hypnotherapist and why now
· an informal interview meeting between a ASCH trainer and the prospective trainee.

The Clinical Hypnotherapy Diploma course requires you to have a maturity to understand and process the subject matter, as well as a desire to use your life experiences to benefit others. For this reason we will telephone or email you to discuss your application and may invite you in for interview.
Post graduate CPD courses are a mandatory requirement to retain membership of professional bodies in hypnotherapy as well as an opportunity for you to keep up to date and develop your skills. ASCH offers a wide variety of short courses to support our graduates and practitioners trained elsewhere. We focus on delivering relevant courses, presented by skilled experts, that have a real impact on your work.

Should we feel that an application is not entirely suitable for either party, we reserve the right to decline that application.

Here are the real questions you want answered

We can say YES to all of these questions

Is my course independently accredited?

The ASCH Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy makes you eligible to apply for membership to the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and other respected professional bodies for Hypnotherapy in the UK and worldwide.

The ASCH Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy in combination with the GHR General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (GQHP) will give you a highly respected set of qualifications. And most importantly allows you to apply to register with the CNHC; which was set up in conjunction with the British Government.

As an ASCH graduate, you will be eligible to apply for upgrading your student GHR membership to the full Practitioner Membership allowing you to use their letters (GQHP) after your name:- e.g. Jo Smith Dip Hyp (ASCH) GQHP

Are my trainers professional therapists too?

All ASCH trainers are qualified clinical hypnotherapists. They are trained to deliver your course by means of accelerated learning methods for ease and effortless retention of knowledge. The course is based on guided adult learning and requires trainees to pursue your own independent research and studies.

Is work experience included in my training?

Yes. You will be challenged to constantly apply your skills so that on qualification you are already a well-practised professional Clinical Hypnotherapist. Facilitated and supervised practise is central to your learning.

Work Experience

Approximately 25 hours of supervised client work are included in your classroom hours, plus about 25 hours further client work to be completed in the field are required for you to gain your qualification from the Advanced School of Clinical Hypnotherapy (ASCH). This will be assisted by ASCH inviting outside clients into the classroom towards the end of your training for you to further increase your work experience.

To complete your practise hours you will also be required to source your own clients. It is our experience that most trainees generate a surplus of willing volunteers.

Will I get CPD Points for short courses?

Yes, where appropriate. ASCH believes in life-long learning and supporting practitioners and therapists to become specialists. You will find CPD hypnotherapy courses available in your area, throughout the year. Go to the CPD pages to find a CPD course for hypnotherapy.

What happens if I have to stop my studies for personal reasons?

ASCH is dedicated to supporting our trainees to become qualified Clinical Hypnotherapists and part of that support means being understanding of issues occurring out of the training room.
Sometimes life can get in the way of your studies for a variety of reasons e.g. illness or a change in family circumstances. We will address each case individually and, where appropriate, will offer a deferment for up to 12 months in order for you to address your personal circumstances.

What happens if I change my mind after I’ve paid for my course?

We want you to be sure the course you choose is right for you and we are available to answer every question you have before you begin your studies.
On the rare occasion that a trainee might change their mind after application and payment, most usually through sudden change in life circumstances, we have a policy to allow trainees to defer training or have their fees returned as per the payment terms and conditions signed when you booked your course. This is the ASCH guarantee to you.

Please contact us if you have any concerns or questions regarding your choice of course.

What support is available outside the training room?

When you begin your training with ASCH you will become a member of a supportive learning community, gaining a new peer group who will support your chosen career in Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Whilst you are training you will have regular group supervision with your trainer and access to them via email or telephone contact where appropriate. You can also contact ASCH directly to address any issues concerning your training, payment and your learning path.

ASCH aims to make learning a pleasant and fulfilling experience that you can fit well around your work, home and family commitments.

Continued learning with us in informal social gatherings and through active online social communities on Facebook and Twitter, ASCH trainees and alumni are encouraged to continue relationships in a supportive environment. Our Clinical Hypnotherapy graduates remain colleagues long after initial qualification, forming strong and supportive professional bonds that we hope will continue throughout their careers.

What letters will I be able to put after my name?

Once you have completed your Clinical Hypnotherapy Diploma training and graduated, you will be entitled to put the letters Dip Hyp (ASCH) after your name.

You will then be eligible to upgrade your student membership with the GHR to Practitioner Membership which will allow you to add the letters GQHP after your name. E.g. Jo Smith Dip Hyp (ASCH) GQHP.

You may also apply for membership to the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and add CNHC to your letters after your name.
